Dr. Prisila Andrea Mkenda is a Lecturer of botany and ecology courses at the Department of Biosciences, College of Natural and Applied Sciences, Sokoine University of Agriculture, Morogoro, Tanzania. Mkenda holds a Ph.D. and MSc. in Biodiversity and Ecosystems Management from the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology, Arusha Tanzania. She studied BSc. Education (Chemistry and biology) at the University of Dar es Salaam. Her responsibilities at the University include teaching, consultancy, outreach, and research activities on various issues related to agroecology and biodiversity conservation. Mkenda has been working on various projects including Darwin Initiative Project: “Harnessing agricultural ecosystem biodiversity for bean production and food security” from 2016 to 2018. Currently, she is a project investigator (PI): “Innovative strategies for enhancing Conservation of Endemic Fishes in the Kilombero floodplain, Tanzania (CoEF-project)” and a team researcher for a project titled; “Ethnolinguistic and ethnobotany documentation: Towards preserving Hehe indigenous knowledge of medicinal plants in a pictorial dictionary”. Mkenda has been a fellow in African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD), which is a career development programme that equips top women agricultural scientists across Sub-Saharan Africa by strengthening their research and leadership skills since 2014. Mkenda is a reviewer in more than ten international Journals and has reviewed 22 manuscripts submitted to the journals for publication as it can be accessed at the link https://publons.com/dashboard/records/review/.
