We are thrilled to extend our warmest congratulations to Dr. Christopher Mwankuna for successfully defending his PhD thesis titled “Development of Analytical Methods for Screening and Determination of Conventional Drugs Adulterated in Herbal Products”. Supervised by Prof. Faith P. Mabiki, Dr. Eliapenda E. Mariki, Prof. Hamisi M. Malebo, and Prof. Bjarne Styrishave, Dr. Mwankuna’s thesis is a remarkable contribution to the field of chemistry in Tanzania.
Dr. Mwankuna’s research is particularly significant for Tanzania, where the use of herbal products is prevalent, and there is a risk of adulteration with conventional drugs. His study highlights the importance of developing reliable and accurate analytical methods for screening and determining conventional drugs in herbal products, to ensure their safety and efficacy.
Dr. Mwankuna’s findings provide valuable insights for the regulatory authorities, healthcare practitioners, and manufacturers in Tanzania, who can use his research to develop policies, guidelines, and quality control measures to ensure the safety and efficacy of herbal products.
It is also worth noting that Mr. Mwankuna pursued his PhD research at SUA in the department he is also working in, the Department of Chemistry and Physics.
We applaud Mr. Mwankuna for his dedication and hard work in completing this important study, and we wish him all the best as he continues to make significant contributions to the field of chemistry and public health in Tanzania. Congratulations, Dr. Christopher Mwankuna!
