MY LIFE AT SOKOINE UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURE (SUA):
My name is Dativa Peter Kateme. I first became a student at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), when I was 19 years old (in 2018), studying BSc. Informatics at Solomon Mahlangu Campus (Mazimbu), Department of Mathematics, Informatics and Computational Sciences, Solomon Mahlangu Collage of Science and Education. This was one of the best things I have ever done; meeting new friends, making memories and getting my degree was a huge achievement.
I chose the course of Informatics because I want to become a qualified professional. Informatics work covers a huge range of people and abilities. For example, once qualified I can work by doing data storage and retrieval in different fields such as Agriculture, Education, Health sector, making different system like gaming, android application, Web developer, Network architect,. Even things like working with people who have faced with difference problems in theirs computers (IT Consultant). It really is one of the most diverse job roles I’ve ever known of.
I really feel like becoming a Programmer will be worthwhile. The job satisfaction of helping someone with their entire life, improving their well-being and making a difference is very important to me, and all those on my course. It is possible to work for both public and a private sectors, running your own business, or working for/with another organization which are all brilliant opportunities.
The course is challenging, and it can be very difficult at times, but my tutors are very happy to help and answer questions in person or via email if we would prefer. At times I have lost sight of what it all means, as I got a bit bogged down with studying a lot of theory and doing exams. When I did placement though, it reminded me of why I want to do in informatics and seeing how the computer language can be applied difference in their everyday life.
Many of the problems I encountered during my studies were like social overwhelm, time management, choosing prefer major. But most of those have been solved (settled) due to myself resolving and does not affect me much my studies.
I would like to thanks much my collages, Professor, Doctors for all their effort they put on me. I can say their sacrifices don’t go unnoticed. As well as my fellow students.
MY OWN PLAN OF STUDY:
In studying: As a student, I lead a life of honesty and simplicity. It is against my principle to put off today’s work for tomorrow or to have any private tutor this things I always does in every weekdays/ after classes. But on days of classes I usually weak up early in the morning and the classes begin at 07.00 A.M. usually, the time table for class breaks up at evening. and I get back home. There is slight change in the routine on Sunday and Saturday which is holiday, I normally go to church and on Saturday the routine changes accordingly I engaged my self in washing dresses, I also visit a movie or theatre.
In sport: Every morning I take physical exercise to keep my body healthy and fit and if it becomes helpful for me, I take a walk for about one kilometer. After having a little Tiffin in every Wednesday and Friday at 05: 00 P.M to 6:00P.M I go to the playground to play different games. I play hockey, football and other games as it suits to me or to my friends. In the playground, students of different courses meet together and make friends with one another.
In sleeping time:
The amount of sleep is important for one’s mental and physical health, for cognitive restitution, processing, and memory consolidation in order to stay healthy. I always sleep early and wake up early this happen when I don’t have any test/exam. I sleep at 11:00 P.M up to 06:00 A.M and take my breakfast to be ready to attend the class. During exam periods, I always sleep 3 hours due to pressure to fail.
My free time: I have little free time, but when I really have days off, I go to visit the region-side where the scenery is very beautiful and the people are very friendly. Besides that the region of Morogoro surrounded with different relief features highland like mountain, waterfall like Uluguru Mountain, Mikumi National park when I always got free time I like much to visit those area to seen God’s creation.
Apart from me and my friends, we prefer much to visit orphanages and I also like to attend various debates to gain knowledge about different skills that happened in our society. And some debate offers by my university some are like TBC, Clouds debate. In other corner I like much to visit other university to know how they live campaign to visit my friends who studies in other university.
My hobbies: I like much to take picture am feel so happy when I do so, since the studies find to be more difficult sometime i just need to refresh my mind so when I take some photo, listening music, dancing am feel more happy .
MY FUTURE AFTER GRADUATION:
After my study at SUA I will do different project concerning with software like android application, and develop web sites like I do when I am still at SUA and then later on apply for Master at China, this force me to work harder with the great helps I get from my lectures and make good GPA which will make me competitive candidate towards scholarships applications.
Thanks for reading and good luck with whatever you do!
