DIIT Final Year Students Unveil Outstanding Projects at their Final Presentations

The Department of Information and Information Technology at the College of Natural and Applied Science, Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), hosted an exciting event: the presentation of research findings by students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BIT) and a Bachelor of Information and Records Management (BIRM). This event, titled “Unveiling Insights through Research Presentations,” provided a platform for final-year students to showcase their hard work and innovative projects. The annual presentation offered an invaluable opportunity for students to share their research experiences and discoveries with a panel of experts and an engaged audience.

A key component of the final year at SUA, each student must undertake a research project, executing proposals developed during their third year. These projects allow students to explore topics based on their personal interests, career aspirations, and the availability of primary data or literature. Under the supervision of experienced researchers, students conduct research in various areas, including information, records, and archives management.
The event was a significant milestone for the students, offering them the chance to present their findings to a panel of experts and an attentive audience. This opportunity not only highlighted the students’ dedication and expertise but also emphasized the importance of research in driving innovation and solving real-world challenges in the field of information technology, information and records and archives management.

The event was organized into two clusters. Cluster one involved students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BIT) and was held on 21st June 2024. It had three groups chaired by Dr. Neema Sumari, Dr. Joseph Telemala, and Dr. Baraka Nyamtiga. Cluster two involved students pursuing a Bachelor of Information and Records Management (BIRM) and was held on 26th June 2024. It had five groups, each chaired by distinguished academic members: Dr. Nicholaus Mwalukasa, Mr. Mustapha Sultan, Dr. Ayubu Churi, Dr. Andrew Malekani, and Dr. George Kavishe. The presentations took place across various venues on the Solomon Mahlangu Campus (SMC), including SLGB1, SLGB3, SGLLB1, the SMC Library Computer Lab, and the SMC Library Conference Room.

Students captivated the audience with their insightful findings and innovative recommendations aimed at addressing challenges in the fields of information, records, and archives management. The event not only highlighted the students’ dedication and hard work but also emphasized the critical role of research in driving progress and excellence in their field.
