Neema Nicodemus Lyimo is a lecturer at the Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). She did her first degree in Information technology and Master’s degree in Computer Science. She received her engineering doctorate in Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing at a highly ranked institution in remote sensing–Wuhan University, China in May 2021. Her PhD thesis focused on assessing the quality of remote sensing imagery and open geospatial data for urban area classification in developing countries.
Her teaching experience covers Geo-informatics, Database management, Mobile application development, computer applications and Information architecture courses.
Her main research interest is on the applications of geospatial and information technology for development, such as the use of remote sensing imagery, crowdsourced data, GIS and information systems for smart city development and improved agriculture production.
Neema has taken part in various projects, including the EPINAV project at SUA.
She has published over 9 papers in highly ranked international journals. She has won many awards, including 5-StarLake academic and publication awards. The publications are available on her ResearchGate and Google Scholar profiles.
