SmartTB, a web-based innovation that was developed from a SUARIS-1 funded project called “Prediction of Diagnostic Accuracy using Big Data Analytics and Visualizations from Trained African Giant Pouched Rats for Tuberculosis Detection at SUA APOPO“, has attracted national attention in innovation. The innovative solution won a third prize at the Competitive Innovation Week Tanzania 2023, Morogoro Edition, which was organized by TAOTIC and provided a platform for innovators, business owners, professionals, angel investors, and talented young people to connect and explore market prospects, collaboration opportunities, and investment potential in Tanzania and beyond.
Ms. Joan Jonathan, the project investigator, presented the groundbreaking SmartTB innovation on behalf of the project team. Using artificial intelligence and machine learning, this web-based smart diagnostic tool can rapidly and accurately diagnose tuberculosis, providing timely and effective care to patients who need it.
Winning third prize at the event is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the project team.
