The IGI Publisher has recently published two chapters authored by DIIT staff. These chapters are part of the project titled “Morogoro Youth Empowerment through Establishment of Social Innovation (YEESI) Lab for Problem-Centered Training in Machine Vision.” The book, titled “Empowering Students and Elevating Universities with Innovation Centers,” has several book chapters that encompass insightful discussions on innovative approaches to education.
The first chapter, “Catalyzing PBL-Based Jigsaw Model to Transform Challenges Into Opportunities and Problems Into Excellence (COPE) for Enhancement of ICT Competencies,” explores the utilization of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) to enhance ICT competencies among students. Dr. Joseph Telemala, Dr. Kadeghe Fue, Prof. Camilius Sanga, Dr. Alcardo Barakabitze, and Prof. Glen Rains authored this chapter.
The second chapter, “Fostering Problem-Based and Challenge-Based Learning Through Students’ Engagement in Hackathons: The Case of YEESI Lab at SUA,” discusses the role of hackathons in promoting problem-based and challenge-based learning, using the YEESI Lab at SUA as a case study. Dr. Joseph Telemala, and Prof. Camilius Sanga authored this chapter.
